      • The DCP-485 is a compact RS-232-to-RS-485 converter which featuresa complete electrical isolationbarrier and heavy duty electricalsurge protectors. These devicesfeature a DIN rail mountableenclosure, for application to ajunction box, a panel, a relay rack,the side of your computer, oranywhere a DIN rail can bemounted. Isolation is provided byoptical couplers and a transformer-isolateddc-to-dc converter. TheRS-232 connection is made throughmale or female EIA 9-pin D subconnectors, or a 3-wire RS-232connection can be made throughconvenient pluggable screwterminals. The RS-485 connectionsare made through convenientpluggable solderless screw terminals.The DCP-485 series is designed forfull duplex operation over two-wirepairs. Outputs are tri-state, allowingmultidropping of up to 32 units. Datarates are up to 115.2 K bits persecond (baud). Four diagnostic LED indicators are providedfor installation guidanceand system troubleshooting. TheRS-232 interface includes RequestTo Send (RTS) and Data TerminalReady (DTR), either of which can beused via a DIP switch to enable theRS-485 transmitter. Alternately, theDCP-485 offers automatic lineswitching: the RS-485 transmitter isenabled automatically by eachcharacter sent on the RS-232Transmit Data (TD) line.Additionally, the RS-485 transmitterand receiver can be independentlyenabled continuously or underRS-232 control. A convenient nullmodem switch is provided for thedata lines. Also, line terminationswitches independently connect linetermination and line bias resistors tothe RS-485 lines. The units arepowered from wide-range voltagesof +10 to +30 Vdc through pluggablesolderless screw terminals.
