      • The LV3000/LV4000 Seriescontinuous level measurementprobes are flexible, cost-effectivesolutions for applications involvingliquids, pastes, and some solids.The built-in (one-piece) electronicmodule provides a 4 to 20 mAoutput (2-wire) signal that isproportional to the process level.Zero and span adjustment helpsaccount for various media, tankdimensions, rod lengths, andpositions of installation.

      OMEGA™ offers these probes inseveral different models. The usermust choose the probe that suitshis or her application and install itin the proper location. Whensubmerged, the probe must be ableto produce enough capacitancevariance. The probe’s successdepends on these important factors:
      A) Conductive materials can causea short circuit between a barestainless steel probe and the tankwall. For this situation, we recommendusing PTFE sleeving on the rod surface.
      B) Material buildup affects theaccuracy of RF capacitivemeasurements. Additionaladjustment to the probe’s sensitivityis therefore recommended.

      Housings must be compatible withthe requirements for hazardous,washdown, wet, or dustyenvironments. For explosion-proofenvironments, the housing mayneed to be certified. In addition, theactive probe might need to beintrinsically safe or have an intrinsicsafety barrier.

      The electronic circuitry of the probeperforms several functions, such asrectifying and filtering the incomingpower, generating the radiofrequency signal, and measuringthe changes in current flow.
