In recent years, IO-Link has established itself as a powerful command interface. Pepperl+Fuchs has become a devotee and has installed IO-Link – the command interface of the future – in many of its sensors. The range of photoelectric and ultrasonic sensors that already have the IO-Link interface is extensive. We will gradually be equipping more and more sensors with this new command and parameterization interface.
With its simple approach and cost-saving potential, IO-Link impresses across the board from plant design through installation to operation and maintenance. The reduction in the different types of interface in itself offers users tremendous savings potential. IO-Link can transmit several binary signal and measured values simultaneously over the same line – in the simplest case a standard, unshielded 3-core cable.
The ability to adapt the configuration of a sensor quickly and flexibly from an engineering tool or a PLC does away with long setup procedures during commissioning. The device description IODD enables sensors to be configured from the system environment or offline.
