RS-300 REGENERATIVE SOURCE

The RS-300 is a regenerative 3-phase ac to dc converter
to supply constant dc link voltage to AV-300? series
drives. The unit is also able to supply a dc input to other
GE drive product families and third-party drives. The
output dc link voltage of RS-300 is kept constant even if
the drive operates in regenerative mode and supplies the
power back from the dc link. The RS-300 converter is
designed for continuous operation in regenerative mode
up to the full rated current. It is possible to use a RS-300
fed drive in applications which require continuous
regeneration.
The RS-300 converter is suitable to feed a single drive as
well as multiple drive systems. In the case of multiple
drive systems, several drives can be connected to the
RS-300 unit. In this way, some portion of the regenerated
power can be exchanged between the motoring and
regenerating drives, and any excessive power is regenerated
back to the mains by the RS-300 converter. Energy
savings for applications which require frequent regeneration
can be obtained in this manner.
To allow for easy start-up, the RS-300 offers two choices:
an optional keypad programmer or the standard GE
toolbox. The Windows?-based GE toolbox enables the
user to set parameters and program converter I/O and
the keypad and self-tune the regulators.
There are multiple advanced communication capabilities
available for the RS-300 converter. The converter
communicates on a high-speed serial link including the
following protocol options: Profibus-DP, Interbus-S, and
Genius?.
Other options include removable keypad programmer
and a keypad door-mount kit.
